WoDA's Mining & Geology Department operates in a range of geo-mining
areas through a dedicated team of geologists, engineers, economists and
specialists experienced in more than 50 countries.
WoDA provides technical, marketing and project management expertise in
small mining, quarrying, open pits and underground mine operations and
investments, groundwater and waste management projects.
The client is assisted in the complete project from the initial
exploration for the identification of the best sites to the recovery of
exhausted quarries. This includes the feasibility study, the excavation
design, the equipment layouts, the mitigation of social and
environmental hazards, procedures and training for safety, project
development and monitoring.
WoDA provides extensive experience in exploration: logistic
organisation, supervision, grass-root exploration, mapping, on site and
laboratory tests, prospect modelling and ore body evaluation. We also
offer proven knowledge in core logging, structural control on
mineralizing fluid flow, sedimentary and magma-related ore deposits,
greenstone belts and high-grade gneiss rocks, mineral alteration.
WoDA provides an integrated approch and a full range of competencies in
projects that combine mining, infrastructures, community and private

Mining is short term activities with long term effects
WoDA constantly assesses its approach to the mining sector particularly
concerning development impacts, responsible behaviours and environmental
sustainability. Our initiatives aim at integrating environment
protection into supply chains or sector development:
Environmental Impact assessment, analyses and compatibility studies;
Waste dumping studies and planning;
Advice on waste management policy and regulatory issues;
Feasibility studies for waste facilities; and
Studies and plans for geo-mining parks.
Integrating women into mining work place
WoDA supports opportunities that ensure sustainable impact projects in the local communities through the following actions:
Community outreach: consultive structures to better understand and meet
the socioeconomic needs of rural mining communities and women groups;
Training opportunities in the mine with the creation of vocational facilities for artisans, communities and women;
Support to the creation of cooperatives/consortium that own and operate stone quarries; and
Building Capacity for economic diversification through income
generating opportunities, directly and indirectly related to mining
activities, supported by microfinance programme
Training and capacity building
In all our projects, the mining department works closely with
Ministries, regional offices, local authorities and multi stakeholders
to provide technical and capacity building support for the
sustainability of mining industry. In a series of its mining assignement
WoDA supports capacity building programs for small scale miners with
advocacy and business development services:
Organisation of (theoretical and practical) Training courses on geo-mining technical, management and market-marketing issues;
Organisation of seminars and workshop;
Organisation of partnership business meetings;
Organisation of technical and commercial business field mission (inward and outward) for private MSME and Associations.
